ABOUT ME

I have always had a heart to serve and am trying to find a way to dedicate my life to making effective, positive change internationally. I quit my job of 5+ years as a financial aid advisor at a university to pursue my dreams of traveling around the world. I have always wanted to do this and finally decided that there is no time like the present. I am looking forward to meeting new people, stepping outside of my comfort zone, volunteering and gaining enriching life experiences and perspectives along the way.

Ultimately, my hope is to find a place that captures my heart, to live abroad for a couple of years (or longer) and to experience a new culture more deeply while helping others.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I offered to host when I had a place of my own, but not many people come through my rural little town. Thus, I have never officially hosted. For now, I am traveling and cannot host anyone but would love for you to host me! :)

兴趣

I love Latin dancing- particularly bachata and salsa. I also enjoy walking, hiking, snowshoeing, scuba diving, cycling and kayaking.

Some of my favorite movies are: Kahaani, La Bella Vita, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Habla con Ella, Amelie, When Harry Met Sally and The Stoning of Soraya.

Music: I like most music except for country and screaming music.

Favorite books: "To Kill a Mockingbird," "Tuesdays with Morrie," and "Breathe, Eyes, Memory" are a few that resonate with me.

My favorite experiences revolve around meeting and working with people and/or being outdoors. My top 5 (in no particular order) are:
- Kayaking in Abel Tasman National Park.
- Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
- Doing Hurricane Katrina relief in Waveland, Mississippi.
- Spending 5 days wandering in Patagonia.
- Assisting with occupational therapy at a day care facility for folks with Alzheimer's and Dementia.

Teach: I would be happy to help people with English, beginner Spanish, baking and/or Latin dance.
Learn: I would be delighted to participate in language practice, cooking opportunities, dance, culture.
Share: I've traveled a decent amount and am happy to share my experiences, offer tips, etc.
