About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am on a mission to find a way to live my life that allows me to earn a living but carry on travelling and also put something back.
ABOUT ME
I think I am an adventurous, easy-going, supportive person. One friend said of me that my catch phrase should be "Well, I am here now, I might as well (insert activity)". I am quite chatty and friendly. I am genuinely curious about people and love to find out about them and their lives and what is important to them. I am a good hostess but a lousy cook. I was a yoga teacher before setting off on my travels. I have also worked in marketing and events in the arts (though I am not an artist myself), supporting the work of artists across all art forms. I love walking and am reasonably fit. I like to kayak though, as with most of my pleasures, I am an enthusiastic amateur rather than a gifted professional. Family is important to me (I have two adult children and two grandchildren) and I LOVE to laugh. I also like motorbikes - mostly as pillion though I would love to get a licence myself.
PHILOSOPHY
Be kind. Act on your best responses and discard the worst. If you can't say anything good you can elect to say nothing at all. Failure can be an achievement if the alternative is to fearfully do nothing. We might not remember things people said about us but we will always remember how they made us feel. In the end it is all quite short so make it sweet and funny.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am happy to invite surfers into my home, which is a very pretty village in Northamptonshire.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have surfed myself twice so far (the lovely Marg, and the fabulous Geoff and Barbara) and had the most fabulous experience.
Interests
I love travelling (hence the need to explore couch surfing!). I love nature and am very happy and comfortable out in the back of beyond, roughing it, but I also enjoy cities. I read a lot and love cinema. I was a yoga teacher and more of a lark than a night owl but have been known to trip the night fantastic (I love watching dance!) if there is a night out on offer. I am very keen to find out more about the reality of the places I am exploring rather than just looking for a cheap berth so I am especially interested in places/people who like conversation and are proud of where they live and want to share it.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love cinema so too many films to mention really; some that come to mind now are Once Upon a Time in America, Some Like it Hot, Apocalypse Now, In Bruges, Far From the Madding Crowd, Dr Zhivago, films by Shane Meadows; pretty much any music, though rap takes a bit of getting used to and not keen on 'lift music'; The Incredible Lightness of Being, Ian Banks, P D James.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The temples at Ankor Wat
Chiang Mai
Kakadu park - the quality of the light, the natural life and the aboriginal art work.
The births of my two grandsons!
Was taken off a beach in Beirut by the Syrian army as it was too dangerous to camp there.

Australia, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Viet Nam
