Overview
About Me
I am an aging hippy. I was an artist for 30 years when the poverty got the better of me and I became a realtor. Finally in 2011 I decided that I didn't want my last ten years to be spent selling real estate so I retired. I intended to write my memoirs, but just couldn't get into it so I found myself catering for events that my friends were hosting and trying to use up all the fabric I had collected in a lifetime of being a fabric artist. I have three children and three grandchildren and a foster family that has made me a great grandmother. I may be old, but I am an interesting person. Feel free to check me out on either Facebook or on my website, jeanniekamins.com. It is a bit out of date, but... also on google.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Being an artist has left me rich in experiences, friends, family and life but poor in those monitory rewards of our society. I grew up crashing at peoples homes as I hitchhiked around and I see no reason to stop now.
Interests
I have a wide range of interests from art, to biology, birdwatching, I have kept bees, studied trees, rock hounded, I am very much into food with a special interest in fermentation. I read, garden, you name it. I am not interested in popular culture very much and am ignorant of most of it. I am very interested in politics and lean towards a leftist perspective.

Music, Movies, and Books
I grew up with classical music but am more interested in folk music in my old age.
I like movies that make me think and present complex ideas.
I am quite eclectic in my book reading, but mostly fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I like deserts. I went to Mongolia to see the Gobi desert. There were no roads only the tracks of other cars.
I went to the Mexican pyramids when you had to get to them in a jeep hacking your way in with a machetti.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am an open person
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a natural teacher. I share what a host wants from me. I have a poor sense of privacy and share as much as I am asked about. I am also a good listener.
