Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To expand my horisons, gain different perspectives, and learn about our world first-hand.
ABOUT ME
I've been called the most pragmatic person on the planet and although I doubt the planetary scale of the observation I do tend to ask "why" a lot and have to have a sense of purpose whenever I do something. Agriculture interests me as I can think of few things that are more important to our survival than food. My most common expression is wide eyed wonderment as I'm continually astounded by our wonderful world and everything on it. It's all so amazing and you're a part of that - I'll find you amazing too!
PHILOSOPHY
To do my best to live life fully, compassionately with purpose and meaning. To use my energy to make the world a better place for those who come after me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I explored bits of our world that I wouldn't otherwise get to explore; learned the stories and perspectives of the people whose couches I crashed on and to hear story and different points of view from those that crash on our couch.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
All positive! I've had the chance to meet some interesting people and learn about the differences in culture and perspective that make this world amazing. Each place has a different feel and it's fascinating to explore how people live from the inside!
Interests
I enjoy gardening, cooking, baking, brewing and stewing and take delight in all the stages in food production between planting food and swallowing it. I'm interested in most everything, or if I'm not interested in it directly I'll be interested in why others are interested in it. I'm particularly fascinated by living growing things and social norms. I'm also an adult fan of Lego (aka AFOL) and taken to using Lego as my creative outlet (there's a great blog of AFOL creations at www.brothers-brick.com )

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy reading anything that lets me see the world in a new way. Lord of the Rings and Princess Bride, however, are my favourite books and movie. I don't watch TV much but am a fan of Stephen Colbert, the Daily Show and Mythbusters and will watch them whenever I get the chance. I love having my brain engaged and learning something when watching TV.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I woke up today. So did you. That's pretty amazing don't you think?
Teach, Learn, Share
I've learned a fair bit about food production; plants and soils and all the amazing stuff that goes into producing the abundance of stuff that we eat. I can share what I know about things I've dabbled in; gardening, arc welding, mural painting, homebrewing beer, beekeeping, and.. ugh.. accounting, bookkeeping and programming in SQL.
There's always more to learn, however, so I'm interested in learning from those who know about food. Hoping to learn some hands on beekeeping and more about beer brewing in the coming years. I'm also interested in communities and different philosophies on how people live their lives.
