We're a pretty interesting couple. After a long career writing books for teens, and then in television, I'm currently an author for children. But not little kids, more like ages seven or eight and up, sometimes about historical subjects. I'm an athlete, and love to garden. I read a lot, too. As for Beth, she's a clinical psychologist after having been an academic researcher. For fun, she's a great gardener, spends time in the gym, and is an amazing cook. We travel a fair amount, often using homeexchange.com as our method. We're Jewish and reasonably observant, so Shabbat dinner on Friday night at our place is a wonderful time. We love to talk with people who are not like ourselves. You can easily find me on social media. Oh yes! I grow legal cannabis as a hobby and am always happy to share expertise and fruits of the harvest, though I consume very little. Both of us speak français, and my Spanish is okay, too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We're here to meet people when we travel, or travelers in Los Angeles, not to stay in folks' homes or have them stay with us. Dinner, lunch, good conversation, a drink or two, always appeal. If you're Jewish and traveling and have no place for Shabbat dinner, we're your people.

Beth: Anything by Nabakov, same music as me plus disco, loved the film American Beauty.

We read the New York Times, the Free Press, and a slew of other things, pretty much daily.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Canoed down the St. Croix river at age 16, with three other kids and two adults, for a week. Gotten some books published by major publishers.

For Beth, was president of the biggest local psychological association in California, and counseled many couples back from the brink of disaster. Many published psychology articles.
