ABOUT ME

I'm a 30 year old guy who loves to travel and loves to learn. I have both surfed and hosted before, and I've had only positive experiences. At the risk of sounding overly sentimental, it really makes me feel so good about the world knowing that a thing like this exists.

I live in Baltimore and work for a university in the Washington DC area. I'm obsessed with music - I've played piano my entire life, I love listening to new music (all kinds, really) and I will never turn down an offer to go hear live music. I'm pretty laid back, respectful, and easygoing.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted and surfed, and when I host, I am more than happy to show my town off as much as my schedule permits. If I can't join you, or if you don't want me to (which is totally fine), I'm happy to offer suggestions.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Obviously the free accommodations are nice, but I think Couchsurfing is so much more than that. The cultural exchange and the opportunity to really experience a place from another person's vantage point is such a wonderful thing. I have made friends all over the world through couchsurfing, and look forward to making more. LGBTQ+ friendly is a must!

Music (as I said), traveling, politics, films. I love exploring places, whether it's a new city or out in the wilderness. I'm a lifelong learner - I appreciate education, both in and out of the classroom, and am always interested in learning more about the world and the people who live in it.

Movies: I know it's new, but "Her" was one of the best films I've seen in years. Other favorites: Best in Show, Diner, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Royal Tenenbaums, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Up In the Air, Inglourious Basterds, Little Miss Sunshine, Drive, Lars and the Real Girl, 127 Hours, American Psycho, Oceans Eleven, No Country for Old Men.

Music: Arcade Fire, The National, Beach House, Neko Case, Rilo Kiley, Mates of State, Iron & Wine, Feist, Lucius, The Low Anthem, Sigur Ros, Erykah Badu, Simon & Garfunkel, Sharon Jones, The New Pornographers, Miles Davis, Janelle Monae, The Knife, Chvrches, Haim, Lykke Li, just to name a few. I am constantly adding to this list.

Books: David Sedaris, Anne Lamott, and Dave Eggers will always get my attention. I also love Cat's Cradle, Catcher in the Rye, Elliot Allagash, and Bossypants.

I climbed a glacier in Reykjavik, Iceland, two days before it melted by a nearby volcanic eruption. I've also seen Machu Picchu (Peru), Giant's Causeway (Northern Ireland) and all of Prague, the most beautiful city that I've seen.
