Hi! I’m Jeff, and I am a travel addict. I’ve gone on two extended trips in South America and South-east Asia, and on plenty of shorter visits to European cities.

I like good food, great coffee, photography & film, and street art. I’m a fan of anything outdoors – hiking, climbing, kayaking, kite surfing, and camping.

Currently I am travelling across Canada by train, from Montreal to Vancouver. After that I plan to move here long term.

Staying in hostels can be great, and you will meet wonderful people from all over the world. That said, I have learned that nothing beats a local perspective. When I have visited friends who live abroad, the experience has been completely different. They’ve brought me to places I most likely would never have discovered on a short visit. I joined couchsurfing so I can provide that to others visiting wherever I am living permanently, and also to hopefully make some new friends when I travel to new places. I’ve been to several couchsurfing meetups in a few cities, and they have been overwhelmingly positive and full of great people, and hope that hosting/visiting will be similarly great.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Music: lately I have mostly been listening to electronic music – DnB, techno, house, experimental. I also like a wide variety of other stuff, including prog/psychedelic rock, ambient, psytrance, chillout, funk, disco, dub, metal. I think that most people can find a small amount of music in each genre that they like, if they look hard enough!

Movies: some favourites include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Eyes Wide Shut, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, The Usual Suspects, A Scanner Darkly, American Beauty, Babel, Berlin Calling, Gran Torino, In Bruges, The Guard, Castaway on the Moon, Lock Stock, Let The Right One In, Mulholland Drive, Sin City, The Wrestler, Dallas Buyers’ Club, The Lobster.

Books: Mostly science fiction/speculative fiction, plus some modern classics. Currently reading: Trainspotting. Up next: The Gone Away World.
