About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Build community, be honest, love people well, decide what's next for myself.

ABOUT ME

I think my friends would say that I'm loyal and funny. I hope they would also say that I'm generous and kind. I like to march in a demonstration, take a dance class, eat ice cream and go dancing all in the same day. I've decided that my 30s are for laughing at myself.

PHILOSOPHY

I think it's important to be part of a community and to be accountable to it. Standing up against things that hurt people- capitalism, racism, poverty- is important to me. So is being healthy and taking care of myself and the people I love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hoping to connect with people when I visit Buenos Aires next month. I live in a big collective house in Toronto. We don't have a guest room but do have 2 couches. We're used to having lots of activisty folks stay with us over the years. We have a 7 year-old, so we're often up early.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Connected with wonderful hosts when I was visiting Argentina- thank you Romina and Miguel! Also had an awesome guy stay with me who taught all my friends about space robots!

Interests

I'm a community organizer/social worker at a community food centre. I'm passionate about food security, housing rights and stopping violence against women. I love sad folky country music. I used to be an amateur boxer and I still coach and teach self-defense workshops sometimes. I'm into some zany sporty stuff like ultimate frisbee and crossfit. I grew up on a dairy farm but consider myself a city girl now.

Music, Movies, and Books

Fugitive Pieces by Anne Michaels has been my favourite book since I was 16.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been so lucky to know so many brave, beautiful people fighting for justice in their communities.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a bit about health, nutrition and organizing social justice events and campaigns. I have a weird interest in psychology and neuroplasticity. I'm good at helping people get info or stuff they need and navigating bureaucracies. I'm into alternative families, living collectively and consensus decision making.
