About Me
CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME
Everyone that knows me knows that I am quirky and witty and I just want to have fun. I live life passionately and am always there to listen, give the best advice I can, and always try and put a smile on someones face :)
PHILOSOPHY
Make at least one person smile or laugh everyday for the rest of my life
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am usually a solo traveler who is looking to meet new people and share my experiences with while gaining a good insight to the local culture of where I am visiting. From my past experiences there is always a better time to be had by being with the local people of my destinations and therefore I sway away from the big hotels and typical tourist things.
Interests
Number one. Scuba diving. I have only been diving a little more than a year but I am slightly addicted to it. Any chance I get while traveling I want to dive. Being underwater is one of the most incredible experiences in the world. It's my new passion. Traveling, camping and photography are also on the list.
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a huge music fan. I can appreciate every type of music but some of my favorites are Alt-J, Coldplay, Ben Howard, M83, Arcade Fire, and Vance Joy. A little Bob Marley doesn't hurt either :) My all time favorite movie is It's A Wonderful Life. Then there is a list that is always changing of my top 5 movies of all time.
I'm usually reading historical fiction books. I've read a lot of books set in India and Paris, maybe because it's easy for me to visualize, but it's a great way to get some history on the cities while being whisked away by the story.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A week into my Southeast Asia trip I met a friend in Bali. One of the most inspiring men I have ever met who opened my eyes to diving and shared his love of the Philippines with me. I'm proud to call him my friend. It was merely weeks after the devastating typhoon and he was raising money to help out some people he had met there. When he told me about Malapascua Island I had no idea where it was, no intentions to go, or ever thought I would be headed that way. After that day we kept in contact and throughout our trip we had made random choices on locations to go. After El Nido we decided to fly to Cebu and I again randomly picked an island to go for a chilled out time, even forgetting the name of the place he spoke of. One day I went diving and after my first dive I was talking to my dive master and told him about my friend. It just so happened that this was who he had been helping to fund for a rebuild of his home. Me from Canada, meeting someone in Indonesia from England who tells me a story about someone in the Philippines and here I am talking to that person. All by chance. Not a moment of it planned. We both sat in awe of what a small world it is. Diving with the sharks was great but realizing how beautiful this world is and what can happen by chance was astonishing.
