About Me

Become wiser

I love traveling. I have a lot of experience traveling in the United States. This summer, if everything goes according to plan, I will be seeing my last states to get my 50th!

When growing up I decided that I wanted to see my country first before I really started international travel. Granted I thought I would see more of the US much sooner I do think it was a worthwhile goal. The USA's regions are vastly different from one another. I have seen desert, two oceans, volcanoes, great lakes, small and big cities with a lot of personality.

Next year I am hoping to start to travel more internationally!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In past I hosted by proxy, meaning my roommate handled all the arrangements :). I met so many amazing people in the local couch surfing community in Albany and Troy, local people that hosted and visitors alike.

While living in NYC we (my husband and I) decided to open our living room to some travelers. It has been a great experience to meet new people, hear about their journey, and see our city through the eyes of others.

I enjoy experiencing art. My preferences are street art and public art however there is a special place in my heart for political modern and contemporary art. I am very good at finding out about NYC museum's free or reduced price days.

I stay active by running, practicing yoga, rock climbing, or occasionally roller skating.

Music, Movies, and Books

As a past-librarian I have to admit I love a good book. I have a tendency to favor nonfiction books on education and food policy but I will never turn down a good cozy mystery or novel by a beat author. I am very dedicated to my GoodReads account (username is my CS name).

I prefer to watch upbeat, feel-good movies and depressing documentaries.

My preferred genre of music can best be described as low-fi alternative with strong female vocals.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach anyone how to hula hoop.

I am always looking to learn new things. I am particularly interested in languages.
