About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the entire world by any means possible!

ABOUT ME

I am a laid back 38 year old single female, the only thing I take seriously is having fun and doing as much as I can in my short life on this planet
I work a lot from home for a corporate mobile phone company and enjoy country walks, cycling, cooking, music etc in my spare time.

Places to visit nearby include Devizes a pretty town with lots of great shops, the famous indoor 'Shambles' market and of course the Wadworth Brewery which now has its own visitors centre where you can taste and tour.

The Kennet & Avon Canal runs between Reading and Bath and cuts through our village via a huge series of locks including the wonderful Caen Hill lock flight that can be seen in our photos, you can walk or cycle for miles in either direction and enjoy the peacefulness of just narrowboats, ducks, swans and herons.

The National Trust Village of Lacock is just 9 miles away, this is like a step back in time and the backdrop for many movies and TV series. At the Abbey you can see where some of the Harry Potter films were made and where the photographic negative was invented at the Fox Talbot museum.

Bradford On Avon has to be the most beautiful town in Wiltshire. The canal, the River Avon and the railway track all carve their way through this town and just outside at Avoncliff at Dundas they cross over each other using aquaducts. Take a walk from the marina past the two pubs, along the tow path and then to the Tythe Barn then have a wander into the town centre over the beautiful bridges and around the steep streets.

Bath is fairly close too, its a big ancient city and you'll need a good guide book and a couple of days to truly appreciate the place.

PHILOSOPHY

You're a short time living and a long time dead, get off your arse and make the most of it and don't bother yourself with what people think of you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a beautiful old 17th century listed cottage with parque flooring and open fires, a small garden but a huge amount of open countryside right outside the door!
I love hosting, and have done it many times before and couch surfed with others but not so much through this site. I have a spare double room and can easily rig up a sofa bed or airbed in the dining room.

Happy to show you around some stunning scenery in the Wiltshire villages, you can borrow my bike and explore the beautiful canal that runs through our village, we'll help you plan trips, get to train stations and even feed you all on a pay it forward basis.

All I ask and expect is not to be treated as just a free hotel room, our home is open to anyone of any age, sex, colour or religion but if I cook you a meal or take you out somewhere then feel free to muck in with the washing up and please tidy up behind you. We love food and drink and anything that we can't get in UK so anything a bit special from your world is always welcome. Non smokers preferred unless you're happy to stand outside!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had a great assortment of surfers so far and have kept in touch with all of them generally through Facebook.
If you are new to couch surfing we will still host you but only if you fill out a detailed profile with a handful of photos.
