About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Experience and discover life whilst travelling in every country that lets me in

ABOUT ME

I finished my Bachelor of Arts/Fine Arts degree (majored in photography, journalism and french) in November 2011. Two weeks later I packed up my life (yet again) into a backpack and took off, but this time with a one-way ticket and no definite plan. I love photography, the composition and colours. I love to laugh, eat good food and to travel more than anything. Music makes me happy, even if it makes me sad. I love my friends, wherever they happen to be in the world. Vegetarianism makes my soul feel good. I had an ICD (defibrillator) implanted 2 weeks before my 21st birthday. Life can be unpredictable, so I want to see and experience as much as I can!!!

PHILOSOPHY

challenge yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been to meetings in foreign countries, been on CS day trips, and generally try and share my travel experiences with others who are interested!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed with Annick in Bordeaux, Amanda in Barcelona and Alix in Paris.
And then for some reason I felt the need to test out a month long CS journey, which was an amazing (and exhausting at times) experience.
Joana in Coimbra, Rita in Porto, Alessandro & Serena in Brussels, Frederik in Gent, Sebastiano in Gent, Tash & Gijs in Brugge, Chloe in Antwerp, Tessa in Eindhoven, Cindy in Rotterdam, Sanne in Den Hague, Franci in Leiden, Daan in Utrecht, Alice in Amsterdam and finally Cris in Madeira.
I have then since surfed with Nikki in Elgin, Gregor in Odda, Jiri in Oslo, Giulio in Karlstad, Peter in Stockholm, Bettina in Madrid, Efsaia in Athens, Achilles in Syros, Camille in Brighton, David in Brighton, Fatou in Brighton, Pauline in Paris, Jonathon in San Francisco, Erin in Golden, Katy in Dallas, Leslie in Austin, Abdulla in New Orleans and Zack in Houston.
I've hosted Ingrid in Hobart.
And I had a million coffees and alcoholic beverages with a lot of lovely people in Toulouse.
I was also saved by the Monterrey CS group in Mexico when I arrived with little food, no pesos but US dollars and nowhere near me to exchange at night.

Interests

I love photography, travelling, lots of music, great food, wine and cheese nights, drinking buddies, sleeping, talking, hiking, meeting like-minded people, planning future adventures (even ones that aren't going to happen anytime soon)

Music, Movies, and Books

well, a lot of music, a lot of books and a lot of movies! ...that doesn't really help... to name a few, music - air, bon iver, jeff buckley, antony & the johnsons, mad caddies, gogol bordello, infected mushroom, beirut, hozier, matt corby, sia, rage against the machine, the distillers, birds of tokyo, angus & julia stone, mia dyson, florence & the machine, kings of leon, against me, major lazer, xavier rudd, ben harper, nick cave and the bad seeds, silversun pickups, queens of the stone age, the waifs, pendulum, rise against, rüfüs, ben howard, birdy, caravan palace, fat freddy's drop, groove armada,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Getting a metal device put in me, to shock my heart if it gets too slow or too fast, and then taking off 3 months later to travel for 6 months
- Teaching French to very excitable kids in Nepal
- Burning Man
- Antarctica
- Travelling and experiencing the world non-stop for 5 and a half years and counting...

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn about....everything? Even the most boring things can be interesting sometimes, when you're in the right mood.
I love listening to people's adventure stories.
I can help people improve their english (while they teach me some of their first language!), and show them the best way to cook eggs
