About Me
After 3 years of studying preclinical medicine I'm finally..... heading into my first year of clinical medicine. With that comes very little holiday and little free time to do what I really enjoy: travelling, so I'm trying to do as much as possible travelling in my summer holiday before I start on a shoestring budget: the woes of being a student!
I love watching films and reading, as well as partying and meeting new people, so I'll be equally happy chilling at home with a cup of tea or going out. I also love travelling and trying new things, to different degrees of success!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've heard some great things from my friends who have done couchsurfing before, and the best way to get to know the place you're visiting is getting to know the people there, so couchsurfing seems perfect for that.
Really excited to meet some new friends and if you're ever in Bristol or Oxford in the future I'll be happy to show you around some cool cafes or scenic spots!

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC
A smorgasbord of genres: alternative hip hop of the 90s (A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Deltron 3000, J Dilla), alternative rock (Radiohead, Animal Collective, Tame Impala), classic-ish rock (New Order, Pink Floyd, REM), jazz (Django Reinhardt, Miles Davis), and lots more which cannot be categorised into genres that easily!
I also play piano and sing in the college choir, so I'm also a fan of Neoclassical/Romantic piano or orchestral stuff, and Magnificats (niche!)
MOVIES
Where do I begin? I love films, and I maintain a film blog currently chronicling my adventures in trying to get through one film that I haven't seen by each of Total Film's 100 top directors. So I guess I'll list some of my favourite directors and my favourite films by them:
Favourite directors include - Stanley Kubrick (Barry Lyndon, Full Metal Jacket, Dr. Strangelove, The Shining and 2001 are near perfect films), Paul Thomas Anderson (The Master, Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood), The Coen Brothers (Fargo, No Country For Old Men), Quentin Tarantino (Inglourious Basterds, Pulp Fiction), Andrei Tarkovsky (Mirror, Stalker, Solaris), early Woody Allen (Manhattan, Annie Hall)
But there will be some I've missed off the list so if you are a film fan I would love to chat!
BOOKS
Books that changed my life (how cheesy, though it will remain this way until I can find a better way to phrase it):
Infinite Jest (Foster Wallace), The Stranger (Camus), Gravity's Rainbow (Pynchon), Catch-22 (Heller), The Sound and the Fury (Faulkner), The Poisonwood Bible (Kingsolver), Cloud Atlas (Mitchell)
Books which are enjoyable to read and my comfort reads:
Cold Comfort Farm (Gibbons), all the Jeeves stories by Wodehouse, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell (Clarke), and the Harry Potter series of course!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelling all the way from Oxford to Paris and back in 72 hours without spending any money, raising £300 for charity! Among the many experiences it involved 1 hour of sleep at Charles de Gaulle airport, being woken up by the French Army, and hitching a ride on the back of a van with a lone shovel.
Or maybe getting everyone on a moving bus to do the Harlem Shake. Can't choose.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Pretty competent baker and happy to show you my top bakes, including my famous lemon and polenta cake and my equally famous chocolate chip brownies.
Also happy to chat about music, movies, books, life, the universe, everything, and also can tell you about my experiences when travelling and also as a medical student.
