Overview
About Me
I am originally from Vancouver but moved to Montreal to do my PhD in biochemistry. Hopefully I will be graduating next year! I work most of the time but when I don't, I like running (I try to squeeze that in 4-5 times a week), going to markets and pub trivia. I am also really into food but unfortunately, graduate students aren't exactly the wealthy so I just tend to read a lot about it and I am trying to learn how to cook better. I wouldn't describe myself as an amazing cook but I am a pretty above average baker :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I travel solo semi-often and recently when I was looking for a place on air bnb, I realized that I was really looking for places where the reviews said that the host was present to interact with them and show them around. As much as I like going to museums and art galleries/doing typical touristy things by myself, it's kind of not as fun going to restaurants or having beers alone. Also, I would really love to learn what the city is really about apart from the tourist attractions
So essentially, instead of just paying for a bed, I would really rather use my money to take a potential host out for dinner/beers/wine and hang out with cool people :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I listen to a variety things including, but not limited:
-Classical (Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Ravel, Satie, Verdi)
-Indie/indie pop (Arcade fire, wolf parade, moonface, stars, destroyer, the national, altj, phoenix)
-dancey-poppy stuff (i don't know what specifically since it's top40 and it changes frequently and to be honest they all sound the same but it's great for running!)
Movies:
-I like all Wes Anderson but my top two are Rushmore and Royal Tenenbaums
-X-men movies :)
-Christopher Guest
-Charlie Kaufman (Adaptation and Being John Malkovich)
-Woody Allen is a terrible person but I Iike his movies...if it makes it better, he hasn't seen a dime from me!!
-Lord of the rings
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Made a very large croquembouche. It was very structurally sound. I also placed in a latte art competition once so if you have a espresso machine, I can probably pour you a swan (maybe... it's been a while)
What I Can Share with Hosts
As stated above, I will gladly treat my host for dinner/beers/wine. If desired, I'll also bring something Canadian (I'll try to think of something cooler than maple candies, magnets, postcards or celine dion merchandise)
Countries I’ve Visited
