ABOUT ME

I have been teaching 4th grade for the last 4 years in Colorado, USA. I needed a break and was ready for an adventure so I resigned from teaching and planned for 7 months in New Zealand! I'm a ball of excitement, enthusiasm, with a touch of anxiety. I have never traveled this far or this alone! Basically though, I get energy from marveling at nature and making meaningful relationships with people. After the trip, my plan is to return to teaching but I am also being sure to keep an open mind and realize that doors can open anywhere if you are keeping an eye open!

Currently, I am living with friends before I leave for NZ so I cannot host, but after my trip and when I have an address, I am looking forward to hosting!

Interests

Being outside . . . backpacking, playing soccer, climbing, hiking, walking, going to the dog park (I think they are one of the happiest places on earth!), exploring new places, good books, dogs (mine in particular)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love religion books, documentaries about nature, and I am a pretty big fantasy dork! When I'm hiking in the woods and can hear the trees creaking . . . I like to pretend I'm in Fanghorn Forest on some grand expedition and the trees are talking to each other! :)
