About Me

Hello, I'm Jens. I am married and I've two daughters. I work as a social worker in families to support them in their upbringing. I also work as an English teacher once a week in a part time job. I am a passionate cyclist, I like to be in the nature and - of course - I love to travel!
Friends describe me as a funny and outgoing person, but better ask my friends 😉 I also can be on my own, sometimes.
In the past I traveled a lot individually, I made many wonderful experiences with people from different cultures. That shaped me...
With our two children, traveling has a different quality now. But I still enjoy meeting people, playing badminton, go sailing and play a little sport.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling and I want to get to know countries on a personal basic as I believe, that travel is what it makes! What excites me the most is meeting new people. In earlier times I used couchsurfing for some times. I made wonderful experiences with hosts in Italy, Spain and Brazil...
So now it's that time again and I'm looking forward getting to know countries in a very personal way!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love nearly all styles of music

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went on a year-long trip around the world... However, it's been 20 years ago, but it had a strong effect of my life. I had the opportunity to meet people from diverse cultures. This experience shaped me a lot. My goal when traveling is to get to know the respective culture of the country through contact with the people.

Another lifelong experience I had, was working in a refugee camp in Croatia during the Bosnian War. Within 2 years we organized donation transports and coordinated the work on site in the camp. This was a very moving experience for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to share my experiences with someone. So I work part-time as a teacher of English with socially disadvantaged young people to enable them to graduate from high school. I am convinced that we can learn very well from practice. So of course I offer my hosts the opportunity to learn my mother tongue German or English.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook, so I'd love to reciprocate your hospitality by cooking us a dish of your choice - or we'll go to your favorite restaurant, at my expense of course.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Chile, Denmark, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Thailand
