CURRENT MISSION

I know it sounds cheesy, but my New Years Resolution sis to take more chances. I spend way too much time overthinking choices and worrying that I might regret something so this year I want to step outside of my comfort zone more.

ABOUT ME

I am shy at times, but I love meeting new people and traveling to new places. I am a married, 23-year-old, recently graduated, writer. My husband and I are taking a gap year (maybe longer than a year) to travel around Europe (and New Zealand). I am currently working as a reviewer for the California Journal of Women Writers and worked as a nanny for the past three years. I want to take this year to figure out who I am, what I am interested in, and where I want to go next. I have a fairly large family (three brothers, two sisters, one niece, one nephew) who I love and it will be difficult to be away from them, but I feel that it is important for me to experience places outside of California.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I only recently found out about this, but I want to participate by letting others stay with me and meeting people around the world!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to couchsurfing, but I love the philosophy of communal traveling. My husband and I have been traveling around America for the past month sleeping on friends couches and using Workaway and travelx. I also have experience living with roommats in college. We are currently in Europe traveling!

I have so many. I love Hemingway and I am currently into Adichie and Achebe. Right now I am reading Wild by Cheryl Strayed. I many favorite books, but mostly I read whatever makes me feel something. Same with music. My favorite musicians sound sincere and heartfelt about what they are singing. I love Rocky Voltolato,The Rentals, Ben Folds, and many others. Favorite movies include, The Grand Buddapest Hotel, Casabalanca, The Godfather, The Wedding Singer, and others.

Watch a little boy grow from a baby who learns from those around him to a young toddler who forms his own thoughts and makes his own decisions.

Hiked in the Alps.

Travel through France, Germany, and Scotland using workaway and travelx. I stayed with strangers and learned new skills that I never thought I would learn (electrical work, straw building, caring for llamas). I learned so much about the kindness of others and what hard work feels like.

I am really interested in children's literature and adult literature and would love to share my experience as a writer, reader, and editor. If you wrote something I could read it for you! I have some experience with knitting so we could knit together. I also have experience with teaching and working with young children. I am not a yoga teacher but I have been practicing yoga for the past three years so I could show you some moves. I have been working to live a greener, more sustainable lifestyle so I could share my experiences with that. I want to learn new languages so I could help you learn mine if you help me learn yours!

I love baking, it reminds me of home. My favorite things to bake: chocolate chip cookies, lemon cookies, pie, and scones. I can bake something for you or bake with you!
