I'm a big-hearted, adventurous traveler with a habit of cycling everywhere...now branching out to other modes of transportation. I'm partial to the bicycle because it allows me to move slowly, and exposed enough to the environment, to see, smell, taste, touch and hear the land in such an intimate and real way. I like to think of it as traveling as opposed to being a tourist. Also cycling all day allows me to eat my way through the countryside. Which I like. I've cycled across the US, Alaska to Mexico, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, England, Scotland, Canada, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and always looking toward the next cycling trip.

I like the idea of staying with locals for the authenticity of the experience. And I have met some incredible people while both hosting and traveling (on other sites and just meeting folks in person) and while I'm not too keen on "touristy" travel, finding fantastic human beings is the real reason to couchsurf!
