I am a 29 year old Australian/Dutch on a year off. I love immersing myself in nature, new cultures and languages!

I am on a year break from my work in climate change and sustainability consulting where I try to help companies reduce their impact on the environment. At home, I am building a tiny home with my family, focussing on reusing and recycling as much material as possible.

I have started getting into salsa and surfing (though still not very good at it) on this trip but I am always keen to see what activities or places a new spot has to offer, and am hoping you have some suggestions.

Soy Australiano/Holandés de 29 años en un viaje de un año. Me encanta estar en la naturaleza, aprender cosas sobre nuevas culturas y idiomas!

Estoy en una pausa de mi trabajo - soy consultor en el cambio climático y sostenibilidad. Trato de ayudar emprestar para disminuir sus impactos en la naturaleza (por ejemplo, sus emisiones). En mi país, con mi familia, estamos construyendo una "tiny home" - una casa pequeña. La meta es para usar cosas y materiales reciclados cuanto más se puede.

En este viaje, estoy tratando aprender mas sobre salsa y surfear (aunque por el momento surfear es dificil todavia jaja). Pero, siempre estoy emocionado para aprender y ver nuevo actividades o lugares de todos las partes. Espero que tengas recomendaciónes!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am excited to be on couchsurfing to meet new people and have new experiences which are a little off the beaten path. I love sharing experiences with locals from the area, practicing my Spanish (at around a B2 level at the moment and every conversation helps), as well as sharing my own (English or Dutch).

I am also looking forward to hosting travellers when I am back from my own trip to bring the travel energy into my own home and share all that I love about my country and city!

Estoy emocionado para ser en couchsurfing para conocer mas gente y tener nuevas experiencias fuera de la ruta turistica - y para compartir estos con locales. Me encanta compartir cosas con gente local, por lo menos conversaciones para mejorar mi español y ayudar con ingles (o holandes) si quieres.

Estoy deseando ser host para otros viajeros cuando regrese a mi país para sentir la energia de los viajes en mi propia casa, y mostrar todo lo que me gusta de mi país y ciudad.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste is diverse, but I have really been enjoying how much music seems to be played everywhere and all of the time in South America, plus with my new Salsa hobby, Salsa is a recent favourite.

I love a dark comedy, my favoute is probably In Bruges, a fantastic Irish film which I can really recommend (I can watch this endlessly).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For me, nature always holds the most amazing experiences. I loved the salt flats in Bolivia, the Sahara in Morocco, Acetenango volcano in Guatemala and am really hoping to see Antartica on this trip!

I have also spent a year living in a van that my brother and I spent a month building into a little home which is also one of my favourite trips so far, a very unique and cool way of travelling.

Para mi, la naturaleza da las experiencias mas maravillosas. Me encantaba la salar de Uyuni en Bolivia, la Sahara en Morocco, Volcan Acetenango en Guatamala y espero que pueda ver Antartica en este viaja.

Tambien, he vivido en una camioneta que mi hermano y yo contruyendo en una casita - una de mis viajes favoritos hasta ahora - es un manera de viajar muy unico!
