Overview
About Me
Me in three words.
1. Cool
2. Vivacious
3. Laid-back
Hi, My name is Jerry. I'm a kid-at-heart, hard-core Taiwanese at heart, once a self-proclaimed Torontonian in soul. I speak Chinese as my first language and English as my second "first language," if it makes any sense at all. : )
I'm a software engineer in Taiwan, I develop Android phone applications. So, I code and program and my daily duties condemn me to a sedentary work life. Pretty sad, right? But luckily, My "travel juices" haven't lose their edge and before I realize, I'm packing and lacing up my boots again.
Sorry for not getting myself verified or completing my profile 100% - it takes account verification or connecting to Facebook, both of which I don't see the need for for the reasons:
1. I don't use couchsurfing a lot back home, because its not really a big thing here in some Asian countries, esp. in Taiwan. And Taiwan is barely the size of a state of America, so people usually can't find a host or have day trips only .
2. I studied computer science, so I know the risk of getting everything online connected. So, I try to keep every social network site not connected.
3. I don't have like sh*t tons of references, because of reason 1 and I believe its up to people to give me references.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love and enjoy traveling. Being in a completely unfamiliar environment excites me the most, and getting to know the locals is the best way to know the place.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed in Buffalo, NY. I was hosted by a generous local and had a good time there. I haven't had too many experiences yet but I want to do this as often as I can when I travel to the other side of the planet where couchsurfing is popular.
Interests
I watch movies and TV shows, and I enjoy spending time with like-minded people. Also, when I get too fed up with my sedentary job, I travel!
I'm a zombie buff, probably the biggest one I know. I sometimes wish there was a zombie apocalypse. Just kidding. I'd totally shit my pants if that happened. But, I really enjoy zombie movies or stories. If you are also a zombie buff. Let me know!
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies - Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, World War Z, Zombieland, Night of the Living Dead... Oops, they are all zombie movies.
Don't get me wrong. I watch non-zombie movies, too. Like Pixar movies and Marvel ones.
For bands or singers I listen to - One Republic, The Fray, Simple Plan, Imagine Dragons, Adele, Bastille.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Let's not just list one amazing thing I've done, eh?
1. Having my research published in a journal. It sounds nerdy but it's huge to me.
2. Being an exchange student in Toronto for 6 months, even tho a year would've been better.
3. Having learnt the language English on my own. Though my English is still somewhat flawed and I'm still seeing new things every day but Its fair to say I've come a long way.
Teach, Learn, Share
Learning how to step out of my comfort zone and think outside the box!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I usually bring special Taiwanese snacks and give them to my host. Or if you want anything from my country let me know in advance. : )
Countries I’ve Visited
