About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to live the life of a local, everywhere i go! and help eat up all the local food.

ABOUT ME

update: back home now. do drop me a note to say hi, especially if you are the kind who likes to experience local cuisine.

================

currently on student exchange in London, the gateway to Europe. first time in Europe, and lapping up every single second.

if you are a long-term planner and know that you will be visiting Singapore anytime after August, drop me a line to chat. i'd love to meet up or host you if possible.

alternatively, if you are somewhere near Vancouver anytime in June, we can meet up too.

i like my fries (chips for british) soggy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i've surfed at:
Grzegorz (Amsterdam)
Amanda (Madrid)

hosted:
Ryan (London)

very new to the CS concept at the moment, but really getting the hang of it! the time in Amsterdam with Grzegorz was a great way to start off my CS experience. even though he had a paper due soon, he still set aside quite a lot of time to show me his favorite side of Amsterdam, brought me to meet up with his friends etc. it was really fantastic, and i believe every travel experience should be this way.

Amanda showed me the real Madrid living, it was truly unforgettable!

can't wait to start hosting/meeting up with people when i return to Singapore in August

very inspired by some of the profiles i've read here as well. the more i travel and meet new souls, the more i feel like a person of the world. it's a fantastic feeling.

Interests

scuba dive: i dive when ever i can afford it, mostly in the South East Asian region like islands in Malaysia. my dream is to dive with whale sharks in the Philippines.

photography: putting everyday things into a different perspective. and also an effective way to combat poor memory.

sailing: i competed in varsity keelboat sailing. did a passage race along the Singapore coastline that lasted a whole day, and ended up stranded without wind just 200m from the finish line. i'm quite a sea person. i love lazing on the beach, if that can be counted as an interest.

dance: i have been into various forms of dance since 14. chinese dance, contemporary, hiphop, some basic ballet. nothing too professional. i am not a creative person, but on the dance floor, there is just this tiny area of space i take up where i'm not afraid to be who i am inspired to be at the moment.

in particular, bachata and salsa are my interests now. currently am in my 'Latin dance' phase; competed in Latin ballroom competitions in Hong Kong and Sabah, Malaysia. currently picking up salsa so that i can social across Europe, although traveling around has really limited my ability to take classes/social in London.

Music, Movies, and Books

the movie Closer comes to mind. it's great to see a show that challenges your perspectives and the way you live life/see people.

some Chinese movies are quite good as well, but don't think my European friends reading this will know any of 'em:)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

stayed in a Cambodian village near Phnom Penh last year for a month. to see the determination in the eyes of the villagers, even the older women in the tribe, as they went about their daily routines was really an eye-opener.

here i cheat. second amazing thing is i survived in the Brunei jungle for 5 days, and topped it off by scaling a 70 degree mountain.

Teach, Learn, Share

i can probably teach basic Latin ballroom, like chacha, rumba (my fav), jive, samba, paso doble. let me know!

everyone and anyone can dance:)
