Overview
About Me
Hello! My name is Jess Garda. I am currently a student at Duke in North Carolina in the US. I am currently studying public policy, religious studies, and neuroscience and I love talking about all three! My goals in life at the moment are to travel as much as possible, try as many unique dishes as possible, to learn as much as possible, and to experience all I can during my short time on earth.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
One of the people I meant traveling throughout India told me of his terrific experiences on this website soI could not wait to get started and meet people from across the world. I love meeting people and making new friends (and eating with people) so this seemed like the perfect way to explore the world while ensuring that I could meet lovely people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I try to live my life to a soundtrack so I am constantly listening to music. I cannot describe my music taste, though, because it shifts greatly from week to week. I tend to obsess over a few songs at a time and all my favourites are those that I have listened to 100 times but still love. I am an avid reader and am at the moment rereading the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings and reading for the first time Handmaiden's Tale. Any recommendations are much appreciated. I love reading fantasy series but most of my favourite books are biographies. The best one I have read thus far has been Catherine the Great. Though I always try to cut my TV time, I still adore movies. I have watched every Marvel, Star Wars, LOTR, and Disney/Pixar (they can be for adults) movies more times than I can count and I still love them. My two favourite tv shows at the moment are Rick and Morty and Game of Thrones. I have not finished any other tv show (besides Friends) because I have a tendency to get bored. Even when watching my favourite movies, I usually have to be doing something else at the same time to keep myself entertained.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have river-rafted over a waterfall (accidentally) with my family and came out with no injuries!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to cook and therefore can teach some of my favourite dishes. More importantly, thought, I can tell you how, when, and where to travel in all the places I have lived (New Orleans, Utah, and North Carolina). As I've mentioned earlier in my profile, I am most excited to learn new things, whether it be a new skill or about someone.
