About Me

I’m a third-culture kid who can’t sit still. I was born in California, but I grew up in Japan, I studied in New York and Spain, and now I live in Hawaii. Keep it coming, world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to travel for as long as my money holds out, having the most connected experience possible. Couchsurfing helps with both goals - meeting the friendliest locals and maintaining a shoestring budget.

Interests

Rowing, sailing, outrigger canoeing - take me to the water!
Hiking, walking fast, getting myself lost - A+ wanderer.
Chocolate, cheese, wine - preferably all at once.
Reading, writing, wordplay - logophile, I guess?
Biology, astrophysics, new tech - cool science fan-girl.
Philosophy, languages, discussing the state of the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Pentatonix, Tommy Emmanuel, Pentatonix, Zac Brown, and Pentatonix. Maybe also The Eagles and Rachel Platten. A dab of Hans Zimmer. But mostly Pentatonix.

Books: sci-fi books (try The Three-Body Problem) and fantasy fiction (like The Lies of Locke Lamora). But occasionally I read real things, like The Dresden Files or The Martian.

Movies: All of the Marvel movies (I am Groot) and heist movies (e.g. The Italian Job) are good starts. Plus, recently, the movies In Bruges (could we shoehorn that in as a heist movie?) and The Post (which is definitely a heist movie).

Basically: I’m a huge nerd.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On my eleventh birthday, I went bungee jumping in New Zealand on a dare (thanks, Dad).

Teach, Learn, Share

I know all of the moves to Beyoncé’s Move Your Body dance. Just what you wanted to learn, I’m sure. If dancing isn’t your thing I can teach you to yodel instead. I can also whistle pretty well, rounding out my party trick trifecta, but I’m not sure I know how to teach that.

Extra points to anybody that can help me practice my Spanish or my Japanese!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can vacuum! Or...I can walk your dog! Or...I can cook delicious fried eggs! Mostly I can be enthusiastic company I think.

Countries I’ve Visited
