About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world, have a good time... finish my PhD

ABOUT ME

I'm a student living in a London flatshare with three other girls. Currently in the third year of my PhD, which keeps me busy, but I also manage to do other exciting things around London: I'm involved with the Ministry of Stories (like Dave Eggers' 826 projects in the States) and I'm a tour guide at Highgate Cemetery (highly recommended for all London visitors!). Before I started at university I had a gap year, where I travelled around the world, which has given me lifelong enthusiasm for backpacking. Usually I make it to a couple of different countries every year and last year I spent seven glorious weeks in the USA enjoying the Californian sunshine!

PHILOSOPHY

Probably to give people the benefit of the doubt, find the good in everyone you meet, and don't take anything too seriously!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed a couple of couches... I can't offer to host in my current situation (would need some discussion with roommates) but I'm certainly happy to meet up with any lonely London-bound backpackers and show them some interesting sides to the city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with two Couchsurfing hosts during my American trip and had a great time with both of them. It's a perfect way to meet interesting people and see things you'd never discover by yourself.

Interests

Reading (big fat Victorian novels), drawing (comics), crafts (clothes, jewellery, crochet), board games, pub quizzing (that's something I could take you to!), trashy procedural police dramas on TV, the theatre (London theatre is AWESOME), cooking (especially baking), nail art (aaaah that is my least cool hobby haha)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Top three best travel experiences: bungee jumping in New Zealand during my gap year, rolling in the snow in -12 degree temperatures after steaming it up in a friend's banya near Moscow, climbing up Sourdough Mountain in the North Cascades with my friend Jenny

Teach, Learn, Share

My best skill is Nail Art so I could paint your nails for you!! (I'm not even kidding). Otherwise... argh... I could write you a poem or draw you a pug. I am always happy to talk about books, Shakespeare, the nineteenth century... those are probably my best areas of expertise...
