About Me

I am a 25 year-old male graduate student in the Ottawa area. I'm new to Eastern Ontario and Quebec, so in a lot of ways I feel just as much a visitor as you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed a lot, but I've never hosted. I live in a decent-sized studio, so if you're down to share a living space for one or two days, I'm open to considering a short visit of 1-2 nights.

I technically live in Gatineau. It's a 20 minute walk to downtown Ottawa, which can be significantly closer than being located in many neighbourhoods of Ottawa itself. The only caveat is figuring out which buses cross over, if you're not up for walking.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in Canada, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Russia, Belgium, Finland, Mexico, Portugal, and once literally in the Pacific Ocean. All but a handful of times have been among the most pleasant experiences in my life.

Interests

The feeling of being picked up off the side of the road hitchhiking is way up there, along with cooking, glazing over maps, drinking a nice big hefeweizen (Schneider Weisse, not Erdinger), playing guitar too loudly, collecting Lonely Planet guidebooks, houseplants, and tricking people into watching boring documentaries late at night...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The border crossing between Serbia and Kosovo.

Walking for nine hours between villages in Nepal by my own volition.

Travelling between Tyumen, Western Siberia and Irkutsk, Eastern Siberia over three days on the Trans-Siberian mainline. That was in 3rd class open compartments. There was smoked fish hanging in a plastic bag from a coat rack for the entire three days.

Teach, Learn, Share

I will help you with something of your choosing, if you help improve my Spanish. Or motivate me to memorize the genders of German nouns. Or learn more of coding Python or R. I'm also trying to go from 0-Calculus in terms of mathematics skills this year, so.....
