About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore, learn, sand-surf, and swim up Chile on our way to Machu Picchu. If we don't die from TMH (Too Much Happiness) first.

ABOUT ME

I am a very tall Canadian female of proud Dutch descent (hence the height). I try really hard to be funny -- probably too hard, which tends to counteract the humour. Much to my dismay. I enjoy sports, having played basketball for my university, and soccer throughout my adolescence, as well as badminton. Can't forget about badminton. My other hobbies include reading, writing, watching movies, dissecting movies, and then critiquing movies. I do like movies. But mostly my life is devoted to the amazing people who I'm so fortunate to call my friends and family, interchangeably.

PHILOSOPHY

Find what you're good at, add some passion, and live for it. Say no to the status quo.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This is my fist venture on couchsurfing, so to start off I'm hoping to find some friendly folk to house my friend and I as we are currently travelling through South and Central America.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Haven't had an experience yet! Hoping to have one soon.

Interests

As I mentioned before, I'm big on movies and books. But I also like to write and play sports. I'm craving a good soccer match at the moment thanks to all the World Cup festivities. And I'm also very interested in coffee. In particular, drinking coffee. A nice, big latte can suit me at any moment of the day. Pair that with a good book and I'm in heaven. Another thing I haven't mentioned, but that is kind of implied is how much I love travelling. Who doesn't on couchsurfing? So far I've done Europe, most of Canada, and I'm currently in the southern America's. Eventually I'll make my way to Asia and Australia, but I have to take it one country at a time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite movies of the moment are Adaptation; Good Will Hunting; Girl, Interrupted; and Gladiator.

Favourite books I can't really say... Unbroken definitely stuck with me, as well as A Visit From The Goon Squad. But typically if I really like it it'll be my favourite until I pick up the next one that I really like. If that makes any sense at all.

The one constant music in my life is Dave Matthews Band. No matter the mood, I'll throw them on and it just fits. Otherwise my taste can range from rap, alternative, rock, or folk depending on my mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm still young, so I'm hoping something will come along and change my life. As for now, I'm pretty pleased with how much I've been able to fit in in such a short amount of time. Whether it be playing college basketball to finishing my degree, to having visited over 20 countries (so far). For 23 years-old, that ain't half bad.

I don't know where life will take me, but if it's anything like it's been, I know I'll be happy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I guess I would be able to share corny puns? I'm known for having really terrible plays-on-words. I tend to bring my sense of humour everywhere (unless I leave it in my luggage and the airport misplaces it; no guarantees there).

I would just like to learn about people. I find people incredibly interesting. The different ways of living to the personal stories of growing up and surviving. Everyone struggles in their own way, and I believe individual experiences and how we deal with them are the most interesting parts about us. AND THEN I WILL WRITE ABOUT YOU! MUHAHAHAHA!

Just kidding. But if you have something inspiring to say, I may just take note.
