About Me

I am an extroverted introvert, so while I love to hang out with others half the time, I am also just as content to stay in and catch up on some reading. I tend to look on the positive side of life, striving to make a difference in others lives on a daily basis as much as in my own.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend suggested the website to me while staying with us a while back. I filed it at the back of my mind, until I recently rediscovered it while reading through an article of travelling and was motivated by it to sign up.

On another aside, I also just enjoy meeting people from different countries; learning from them and enjoying their company.

Music, Movies, and Books

Harry Potter series (the books) and The Lord of the Rings (also the books) probably take the literary cake.
Movies wise... I would probably say Big Hero 6, About Time and Death at a Funeral (the British version).
My music tastes are all over the show, but some of my favourtie artists/bands are Switchfoot, Gavin De Graw, Jacks Mannequin, Ed Sheeran and Patrick Watson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went on a volunteer trip to a rural area on the Eastern coast of South Africa. We spent a week helping to revamp a school (paint, sand, fix floor boarding, build a shed). There was no electricity in the area or running water, so we were 'roughing' it for a week, but every minute of it was awesome. On the final day, we had some free time so I decided to do some solo kayaking up through a gorge near the campsite we were staying at, mountains towered up around me, and the river stretched out around me; my breathing and the slap of water against the kayak were the only sounds to suggest human presence, the only other sound was that of birdsong.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking, and so would love to cook some South African dishes for my hosts. I'm a good listener and relatively funny (in a dry way), so I can also provide a source of entertainment and good conversation no matter what topic make come up.
