About Me

I once read that women read magazines from back to front.
I did the same with these questions and started at the bottom, so I think I've already said it all below :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just think it's a brilliant concept. My best travel experiences were always when I met a local who wanted to show me around. Even if they don't show you something spectacular, I just think it's so much nicer to sit in a genuinely authentic bar with a couple of locals than to go to the same places as all the other tourists.
Besides, travelling is expensive enough as it is and I prefer to spend my money while I'm awake and I imagine the same is true for most travellers.

Interests

Travelling of course!
Love to be active, even though i'm a very lazy person.
Especially fond of the mountains (skiing, hiking, climbing), which i don't get to do as often as I'd like in the flat country of mine, so here i keep myself busy with field hockey / skating and an occasional run.
And, like the rest of the world: like to hang out with friends, enjoy a good meal and some drinks and dance till the sun comes up.

Music, Movies, and Books

Don't read half as much as I'd like and movie-wise I consume pretty much anything (although not into sci fi or horror).
Memorable books/authors: a million little pieces Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Ian McEwan

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Did 2 projects with Doctors without Borders, 1 in Chad and 1 in Congo. Especially the one in Chad will stay with me forever. Lived in a straw hut in the desert. And a bucket of water proved to be the best shower ever under the most amazing sky of stars (just had to ignore the eyes of all the insects staring back at me whenever i accidentally pointed my flashlight in the wrong direction :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my apartment, hobbies and friends with you while you're here.
Learn whatever (if anything) it is you find worthwhile learning from me and i'll try to do the same.
