About Me

All of my life I have enjoyed being with, helping, and getting to know other people. I have been blessed to have many supportive family, friends, and mentors who taught be about the importance of dignity, forgiveness, gratefulness, humor/fun, and exploration.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I began couch surfing in 2014 with my best friend-we traveled to India! Although I have not hosted people via couchsurfer I am excited to participate.

Interests

Many interests, I am open and curious to most things. I love cooking, music (listening and playing), reading, making delicious kefir, continuing to explore the city I live in (Milwaukee), traveling, building strong relationship with my family-friends-neighbors: build community!
I grew up often doing activities outside with my parents and friends: fishing, hiking, planting gardens/trees, fossil hunting in South Dakota with my father, etc. By no means am I an expert but I really do love learning about the environment and would love to teach anyone some "outdoor basics"!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a month in India with my best friend. We traveled via couch surfing, various home stays, and got connected with some wonderful people that our friends met while in the country the year prior. It was the trip of a lifetime and we are still sifting through all of our notes, journals, and photos from the trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am really interested and passionate about the mental wellbeing of all humans! I first became aware of mental health issues when I was young. Mental health is a serious issue in the US that needs addressing. Modalities of psychotherapy must continue to adjust and meet the needs of every individuals culture and systems/environments which they operate in and around.
I have been practicing community-based therapy in Milwaukee since 2011. My goals are to continue creating innovate group counseling ideas in my current setting, and to be an advocate for those with mental health issues. I also volunteer and assist in advocacy in my community with a non partisan group. Learning about leadership, community organizing, and social justice pursuits are of great interest to me now.
Traveling has been an important part of my relaxation since completing graduate school. Each year I hope to continue taking a trip within the US and a trip outside of the US.
