About Me

Hi! I am a writer, horse person and branding/marketing consultant. I live and work in the Santa Ynez Valley, on the Central Coast of California. My main interests revolve around horses and writing, and my other interests include local history, archiving, oral history interviews, and other extremely esoteric things. I also love to cook and clean and organize. Yes, I'm a little bit of a nerd that way, but hey there are worse things!

Thanks!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My father died this past January after a ten month struggle with esophageal cancer. He had initially been given only six months to live. After watching him go through that experience and being his main caregiver, I try to remember to think to myself, if today was the day I was told I had six months to live, how differently might I be spending my time?

I am trying to shape a life for myself that fulfills my passions and allows me to be more adjustable to change. I'm working with a publisher on finishing a book that my Dad worked on for over 20 years. While I'm completing that I need to keep my overhead as low as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

folk, classical and grunge bands, salsa, flamenco, opera, trance, Broadway... Out Of Africa is one of my top five favorite films, and I love lots of different books but right now I'm reading H is for Hawk and I have to say, it's truly one of the best books I've ever read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmmm...I once dove off a huge rock into a glacier melt pond on the top of a hill overlooking Greystone Bay in Prince William sound....that was an amazing trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach horseback riding lessons at my local pony club, it's really fun and rewarding.

I love to learn about really random esoteric things. Try me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

In return for a night's stay, I will gladly tackle a household project of your choice: got some junk drawers that need organizing? I can do that! Got a room that needs some Feng Shui or maybe just a little pickmeup to make it lighter, brighter, or easier to move around in? I can help move things around, adjust furniture placement, clean up and remove clutter, organize, clean, paint, whatever it takes to get the job done! Just a few ideas, so let me know what you are thinking and I will let you know if I can tackle it and how long it might take! I also enjoy cooking and have been known to put together epic dinner parties!
