About Me

Hi there! My name is Jessica and I'm a 26 y.o. Italian backpacker. I lived in Italy until I was 19, I then moved to Amsterdam for two years and London until September 2017.

I travelled in Asia for three months before moving to Australia last December. I've worked in a farm near Bundaberg and as cook in a couple of motels in the outback. I'll soon start travelling around Australia so I'm looking for hosts and other travellers to share this experience with :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm traveling around Australia and I'm looking for inspiring and friendly people to spend some time with.

Interests

Travels and foreign cultures are my favourite things and I love anything related to them: books, documentaries, food recipes, some basic language, discovering the customs and traditions, legends, religions etc.
I enjoy going out with friends for some drinks and music/dance. I LOVE cooking, both nana's style Italian dishes and international cuisine.
I studied yoga and mediation at the Sivananda Vedanta centre in yoga and I'm planning to take my practise to the next level in Asia.
I recently discovered my love for hiking and scuba diving. I trekked the Annapurna circuit in Nepal and got my PADI Open Water certificate a few months ago.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I mostly listen to old rock bands/singers such as Queen, Dire Straits, Led Zeppelin, Elvis, Pink Floyd etc but I also like different music styles: blues, country, techno, electronic, synth-pop, indie, ambient.
Movies: Anything by Woody Allen, Almodóvar, Bertolucci, Nolan, Tarantino and the good old Clint :) I love French films too!
Books: My favourite novelists have always been writers from the Mediterranean and South American countries (Gabriel García Márquez, José Saramago, Italo Calvino, Paulo Coelho), at the moment though I'm reading a lot of travel guides and travel literature from Bryan Bryson, Levison Wood, Simon Reeve, James Hilton etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scuba dived in Maldives and Fiji
Hiked up to 5000 metres in the Himalayas
Lived in the Australian outback for 6 months

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to cook amazing Italian food (my friends tell me I'm pretty good at it) and some yoga - still learning that though!

I would like to learn some basic phrases in your own language, recipes of your cousine and just chat about your culture and your background.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to chat about different cultures, health, religion and travels, compare languages, uses and jokes.
