Lived on both sides of the Indian Ocean; moved from Durban to Perth in 1996. Love my family, love my pets, love my friends, love trying new food, and OBVIOUSLY love traveling.
Personal philosophy? Very hard to put into words, and also very hard to fit into a little white square...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Half of the travel experience is experiencing new things and the other half is making new friends! and I find staying with a local is the best way to get the best out of the city. Then I can then pass on the pearls of wisdom I have learned from my host to my fellow travelers I meet along the way.
I have yet to host as I am living abroad, but my surfing experiences have been perfect. It great to meet like minded people, and my hosts were so caring and generous. I have also met up with other Surfers for dinner or drinks to chat about our travels :) (always good to share expereinces and get advice from fellow travellers)
I have surfed:
SEP 2010 in Freistadt, Austria with Astrid Penz
OCT 2010 in Delft, Netherlands with Mark Schonhage
NOV 2010 in Montreal, with Karin Ada & Josiane

NOV 2010 in Montreal, with Sylvie

Music, Movies, and Books
I like musicals... ok there, I said it and it's out there. I like: Trainspotting, Donnie Darko, Push, Xmen, Indie Rock & Electro (but I'm not fussy, I will dance to anything), Anne Rice novels, cooking books, and those funny little weiid books you find in the gift shop at museums and galleries.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbing a Mayan temple at Coba was very fulfilling - once at the top the jungle just went forever. While in Egypt I went inside tombs and pyramids, and that was pretty surreal. One of my first travel experiences was ice skating on the 2nd level of the Eiffel Tower, which was super fun and romantic, and I will always remember that...
