About Me

ABOUT ME

I have heard wonderful things about couch surfing, so I decided to become a part of the movement for my trip through Europe this summer. I live in Minnesota now, but am moving to Baltimore for grad school starting in the fall of 2012.

My best friends would say that I am in some ways an oxymoron. I am infatuated with the world of science, the cellular miracles of our bodies, the black boxes of cancer and the HIV virus, a total science nerd. But I am also deeply infatuated with the social sciences, the cultures the world, the economics of this global regression, and am an aspiring social butterfly.
I love to be outside, fishing, hiking, exploring, or riding. Libraries are one of my favorite places to go. And I love to visit with friends and family.

Interests

The attention grabbers for me are:
1. Sports; I love playing them and I love watching most of them.
2. Learning; I am a constant learner, because I am constantly curious about the things around me. I walk into a library and am unequivocally aware of my ignorance to all the knowledge that surrounds me.
3. Medicine/Public Health; it is what makes me tick.
4. Fashion; it an outward representation of my identity, and in many ways an art form
5. Travel; which encompasses the anthropological discovery of the cultures, people, history, and mystery.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. One of the most profound questions that was asked to me by one of my high school students in Sierra Leone about the pharmacokinetics of a common antimicrobial. His question affirmed for me that he not only completely understood what I was teaching, but he was exhibited deep thought about treatment of the disease.

2. The moment I opened the acceptance letter from my dream school and felt that all the hard work was more than worth it.

3. Watching the sun rise and set on Fox Glacier in New Zealand. Breathtaking.
