About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn Spanish!

ABOUT ME

I just graduated with a bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from Westminster College, and will continue my education in the fall in the U's MSW program. Right now I work as a cocktail server at a bar in SLC, which has been an interesting experience, and a surprisingly informative one. I am a pretty easy going person, and I get along with most people. I come from Utah, but I'm not a Mormon, and have only briefly considered polygamy (in the end though, I think it wouldn´t be a very good experience). I have a great family, great friends. I enjoy learning new things and I want to help as many people as I can, which is why I´d like to pursue a career in international development eventually. I'm still working on discovering who I am as a human being, which is something that my friends have helped me out with along the way. I enjoy drinking on the weekends, and I LOVE hookah. It's quite possibly one of the best inventions ever created by man. Mostly, I just love watching the smoke coming out of my own and others mouths, and trying to blow smoke rings (though usually I fail miserably)! I want to travel the world and learn different languages, but so far most of that learning has been limited to learning how to cheers other people in their own language. Right now I am working on Spanish. I hope to master Arabic or Russian, as well. I love music, reading, and writing. I dislike spoons and would prefer to eat with forks or chopsticks. Indoor soccer is one of my favourite games to play. I LOVE the outdoors and hiking and backpacking. I love food, and I´m trying to learn how to eat more sustainably, but it´s a pretty long process!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that life is all about trying to understand things, whether those things are yourself, people around you, the moon, gravity, etc. As we acquire more knowledge we can become more in tune with ourselves, and the more in tune we are, the closer we come to finding an inner balance and inner peace. And life is worthwhile because of those AMAZING moments that we have, even if sometimes life seems like a bunch of shit. When we can feel that inner peace through all of the shit, that is true happiness.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was introduced to couchsurfing by one of my best friends, who had some couch surfers staying over one night while I was hanging out with her. I thought it was an interesting idea, so I signed up, and I'm glad I did!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've volunteered at a Foster Home in China, taught street kids in the Philippines about sanitation and hygiene. Hiked to Delicate Arch under a full moon. Stood on the Great Wall of China. Toured the works of Gaudí, marveled at the intricacy of different cathedrals. I've done and seen a lot of amazing things, and met a lot of incredible people. I can't wait to continue the tradition of having great experiences!

Teach, Learn, Share

I THINK I'm a good cook. I also know some great Mormon games turned drinking games. I would like to learn more hoola hooping techniques, how to skateboard, how to crochet, how to snowboard and/or ski, how to skydive, and the list goes on... Basically, anything you want to teach me, I'd love to learn :)
