About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Making it to the west coast, one couch at a time.
ABOUT ME
I am a fiercely independent free spirit. Nothing can keep me from doing what I want to do. That has meant a lot of things over the years, starting with getting on a Greyhound bus when I was 19 to move to California from New Hampshire. I ended up working in Yosemite that summer before heading up to Bellingham, WA for school. I spent my days walking around town, laying in grass, writing, cooking, sheetboarding, rock climbing, hiking ... much to the neglect of my studies. It's when I realized that I had options. It's when I started living.
Since then, I've lived in Northern California, Hawaii (The Big Island and Kauai), Boston, and Portland, OR ... If I'm not in one of those places, I'm travelling between them, driving somewhere across the country, marveling at the amount of corn in Nebraska. Maybe I'm imitating a statue in Albuquerque, trying a slack line in an Alabama back yard, making goat stew in Kalalau, riding bikes in Wisconsin, hiking the Tetons, doing cartwheels in Cleveland ... I'll try just about anything once, that includes going anywhere. I'd like to get overseas, but I have so much fun exploring the back porches of this country ... I still haven't gotten my passport to leave.
PHILOSOPHY
Seize the day!! Don't think you can't do something that you want to do, DO IT! Make it happen. You CAN do anything you want!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
One day, I will have a couch, and you can stay on it. In the meantime, I'm vicariously couch shopping by trying yours out first. I'm a very finicky couch shopper ;)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I first heard about this site because my neighbor, T, hosted in Kauai. We had new surfers every week, sometimes several in one week. I met a lot of cool people through that experience, and it made me want to give it a try. I first surfed on the Big Island, and now, I'm planning a cross country trip, hoping to stop on a couch near you.
Interests
Anything that makes me feel like I'm participating in life. Sometimes that means an epic hike, other times it means writing a song on my ukulele, and there are even times where it means dancing with strangers at a random drum circle.

Music, Movies, and Books
This list is impossible. I love just about everything. Recommend a movie, music or book that I end up loving and you'll gain my respect for life.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One word: Kalalau
Teach, Learn, Share
If I can't teach you anything else, I am guaranteed to make you smile. I always have a smile to share, and I will find even the most evasive of smiles in almost anyone.
I also am great at making up songs on my ukulele, and I love a good jam session. I love tending gardens, painting houses, building porches, shingling roofs, bartending, hiking, baking cakes on campfires, climbing trees ... let me know what you want to learn, if I haven't done it, I'll learn with you!
