About Me

I'm in HK on a 2 year gig, trying to make the most of 24 short months.

I grew up in Portland, went to school in Missouri, first job in Texas, then Georgia (the peaches one), then Frankfurt (Germany not Kentucky), then DC, then Abu Dhabi, now here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

some of the best people I've met have been CSers

Interests

I was a big-time swimmer back in the day, but now I just jump in the pool for me. Less competition-goodness, more zen-goodness. You know how sometimes a little physical effort is the only way to burn off mental stress? That's what swimming is to me.

I spent a lot of my degree studying Journalism, and I really enjoy writing but I've never had to earn my dinner with words. Those skill haven't ever really been tested, but it's still something I really enjoy.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull by R. Bach

movies
usually: Tommy Boy and Dumber & Dumber
of all time: Casablanca, The Razor's Edge, Where The Buffalo Roam

shows
there's a great Australian workplace sitcom called Utopia that bleeds the line between comedy and tragedy - it somehow exactly captures that "forced to scuttle long-term goals for short-term wins"

The Middleman and Firefly shouldn't have been cancelled. Darkwing Duck forever.

chill: Morphine, Johnny Lang, Jimmy Buffett
rock: Cowboy Mouth, Corb Lund, Great Divide

the old stuff: Deep Purple, Don Henley

food
KC-style barbecue, nachos, BLTs, Udon noodles, and big burgers with juicy tomatoes and crisp leafs of lettuce.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I know it's cliche, but the Australian Outback at sunset really is completely stupefying.
