ABOUT ME

I'm working towards a graduate degree in marine geology and geophysics. Grew up in Newfoundland, did my undergraduate degree then moved out west for good times in BC.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to couch surfing, but it's obviously an awesome idea, and especially for us students who can barely save up enough money for plane tickets.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted a few CS'ers now, and met people in the community. I've only had good experiences so far, and I hope to do some surfing of my own in the near future.

Interests

I live for activities, I am a biker, hiker, runner, climber, surfer, swimmer, skier, sailor, etc. I have just recently bought a boat (small fireball) with a friend in town, and we plan to start racing soon. I'm working on my climbing, but I keep getting distracted by other equally awesome activities. When I get the time and money, kiteboarding will be my next challenge.

I love to party, but I maintain a balance between work and play. However, I'm an easily persuaded into almost any activity.

Music, Movies, and Books

I speak in movie quotes....

I read as much as I can, but in school sometimes that defaults to scientific journals.

I can rock out to anything (consecutive high kicks and fist pumps) except country!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've worked in the Arctic looking for diamonds throughout the Yukon, Nunavut, and the NWT when the sun never set. I've dove for scallops off the north coast of Newfoundland in the bitter Labrador Current wearing nothing but a speedo.

Teach, Learn, Share

Myself and many of my friends are Earth Scientists, we revel in it. I love hearing about other peoples research/jobs/plans and where they get their inspiration.
