About Me
CURRENT MISSION
travel the world and live the dream!
ABOUT ME
My name is Jenna Hammerslag and I was raised in the small mountain ski town of Steamboat Springs, CO. Growing up hiking, biking, skiing and snowboarding, i've become quite the out-doors adventurer. I enjoy a challenge whenever possible and enjoy living in the moment. I am 21 and have lived in Dana Point, San Diego and Santa Barbara, CA, Colorado, New York City/Brooklyn, and Australia. I have dabbled in film school in NYC, am finishing my associates degree at Santa Barbara City College and have plans to eventually transfer to a 4 year university. In the meantime, I aim to save money and travel as much as possible in between. As for this year, I have plans to backpack Australia and Thailand. Other than that, I am a chill, laid-back fun person always down for a good time!
PHILOSOPHY
Live in the moment
No regrets
Risk everything to have a good time
Peace love and happiness
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I offer my couch, entertainment, and knowledge to anyone who accepts!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have not had any couch surfing experiences at my own place yet, however I have met quite a few who have stayed with friends. I met a very interesting young man who stayed at my boyfriends house in Santa Barbara. He was walking the entire United States and had done so already across Europe, Japan and China. I also met an amazing woman from Milan Italy who had studyed in the states, and a handful of travelers from France and Spain. All of my experiances so far have been amazing, and hope to build on them in the future!
Interests
I am a film fanatic and enjoy anything movies and music. I love anything outdoors as well-Longboarding, Snowboarding, hiking, biking, ultimate frisbee. Sports are another huge interest and I have played hockey, lacrosse and softball/baseball most my life. Most consider me a bit of a 'hippie', so any enviromental cause, however large or small, I am always on top of. Other than that, I obviously share a passion for travel and meeting new people wherever I go--

Music, Movies, and Books
Books-On the Road, Dharma Bums (Anything Kerouac). The Drifters, The Virgin Suicides, Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs, too much to put down. Music-I listen to pretty much anything but rap and country. As for film I couldn't even begin to list my 200+ collection but some of my favorite directors include PT Anderson, Joel and Ethan Coen, David Lynch, David Cronenberg, Billy Wilder, Bruce Campbell and the Evil Dead collection, the list goes on and on...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveled through China (Hong Kong-Shen Zhen), lived in Australia, survived on my own in New York City and Brooklyn, seen much of Mexico, and the Caymen Islands. Witnessed a 540 inch record Colorado winter, climbed a 14,000 foot mountain, shredded the gnar in the back-country (snowboarded/skied haha) and got through first two years of college (something I never thought I could do)
Teach, Learn, Share
I think we all have something to contribute to eachother, and being open and accepting to everyone you meet is the key to understanding the world and the people around you. Through travel and using sites such as couchsurfing.com, I feel we can begin to spread tolerance and respect for the many diverse cultures and people we share our planet with-
