About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Have as much fun as I can in order to lighten the load of life's obligations.

ABOUT ME

First off call me "Jo", like banjo, so I can also be called "Banjo"
Who I am has been impacted by who I was raised with. Four siblings will do that to a girl. You learn to fear nothing and get along with anyone, anywhere, with only one bathroom...
I've lived in the same town, on the same island since, well... birth. I'm always working on a million and one different schemes to get my ass out and then home again. I love my town, and I love my island, but that pond can be a bit small :)
I contract hop to make a living. It usually pays the bills and lands me in interesting place. I've worked on several significant archaeological sites, obtained RTI (repetitive troweling injury), spent 6 months living in a bush camp, and have an extensive capacity to rant. So if you can dig it, git 'er done.

PHILOSOPHY

HAVE FUN! GET DIRTY!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to host whenever possible, and meet as many other CSers as I can. Oh, and I spread the word. Pushin' CS harder then crack, baby.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a few times, all fantastic individuals, so I hope to continue to do so. I am looking forward to being presented with the opportunity to surf in the not too distant future. I've also met a wonderful array of CSers within my own community through meet ups and the like, and thus made some awesome friends.

Interests

Travel! Music, Archaeology, Ecology, Robotics, History, First Nations Rights & History, Shenanigans, Art.

Otherwise, I focus my interest and effort towards living happy. Meaning good music, informative books, delicious food, amazing people, and making off-beat art.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - Wayne's World. Learning to recite the movie in full is a personal goal.

Music - I love music too much. Right now my goal is listen to every album in the book "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die" and thoroughly explore Canadian music.

Books - To Kill A Mockingbird

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stood at the most eastern point of North America, watching the Atlantic Ocean roll and boil with the fury of December gales. Nature beautifully displaying its power. Breathed deeply to inhale frigid subarctic night air from the back of a moving train.

Oh, and on my first archaeological dig finding a plastic hypodermic syringe 108 cm beneath the earth's surface, stratigraphically lower than 18th century ceramics. Priceless, and not at all common.

Teach, Learn, Share

Newfoundland can be an interesting place. I can tell you a lot about its physical and social history. And more importantly, which bars are open and selling after 3am AND have free pool.

I also almost always have a bit o' moose meat in the freezer. If you've never had the joy of eating swamp donkey I am always willing to cook up a feed! I've made everything from lasagna and spaghetti, to curry and classic steak dinner.

Otherwise I'm tit useless!
