About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see things, to learn, to understand, to accept, to enjoy.

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Jieling. Born and raised in a countryside in the south part of china. Studying journalism in Guangzhou. After graduation, I was working in the northern coastal city Qingdao, as a managing editor of an English-Chinese bilingual magazine called REDSTAR. After two years, I quit my job and moved to Mexico in August 2014, studied Spanish at the University of Guanajuato. And now I'm on my European chapter, with a lovely beginning in Lisbon, Portugal.

One thing I'm very happy that I did is Couchsurfing. It gave me a very different and special window to see the world, to meet different and interesting people, to share my life experiences, values and social understandings, to open my ears and listen to other's life stories...I did Couchsurfing in Bangkok, Changsha, Chengdu, hosted Couchsurfers from Brazil and became good friends with a Spanish host in Guangzhou...the recent thing I did about Couchsurfing is that - I made it the research topic for my university thesis!

I like reading, cooking, movies, music, running and I enjoying having interesting conversations with people from different part of the world. I'm curious about culture, history, religion, politics and art.

I had been in a voluntary organisation in Guangzhou, an NGO devoting to help poor students, and I volunteered as an online publisher. It was for the purpose of more exposure and attention from the outside world. I left it later as I moved to Qingdao. I benefited a lot being a volunteer spiritually and it enriched my life. I hope to get back to this NGO one day again and do something more than before.

I hope to keep my way of Couchsurfing this way, stay hungry and modest. Meet people, communicate and share, and to learn, of course. We might never know when we are doing Couchsurfing, but time and life experience will eventually prove how wonderful these encounters were we had with strangers from a different culture and all over the world.

PHILOSOPHY

To live the life I long for and be happy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I got to know this wonderful idea from my university English teacher. She was in the states for a year. I didn’t know how many of the students in that same classroom with me checked this idea out later, but I did, and I’m glad. I had a nice apartment in Guangzhou one year ago, there I hosted a few Couchsurfers. All of them left with fulfilling memories, of course. I did Couchsurfing, too. In Thailand, in Changsha, in Chengdu and in Guangzhou, locally. My experiences were not surprising in the meaning of the amount, but all of them are real and beautiful. I thank those people who chose me as a host and accepted me as a Couchsurfer. Without my thesis could have been still a piece of black paper :) And I appreciated it.
