About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Aprender jugar "truco"!

ABOUT ME

"Traveler", "mochilero" and "CouchSurfer" used to describe me best, but now they're a part-time gig while I bow to my cubicle overlords. Perhaps another spontaneous walkabout is in the cards.

I've backpacked a lot of Latin America. My world in South Florida is a mixture between Latin American and North American influences... but CouchSurfers deservedly have a culture of their own.

PHILOSOPHY

Everything will be OK.

Music, Movies, and Books

Listen to everything. My faves are mostly folklórico though... Violeta Parra, Víctor Jara, James Taylor, Carole King, The Byrds, Choc Quib Town, Mars Volta...

I really love books by Dave Eggers like "What is the What" and "Zeitoun". Check them out! I also like Julio Cortazar a lot. Classics like Kerouac, Vonnegut, Steinbeck, Twain and Hemingway. A lot of non-fiction like biographies, books, magazines and anything really.

If I only had space for one book in my backpack, I would make it Narrow Road to the Interior by Basho. But I always carry the Tao Te Ching around as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Begged for money in Costa Rica. Slept on a bench in California. Called a beach in Ecuador my home. Guided a street tour in Peru. Got lost in Uruguay. Rode a merry-go-round in Ontario. Rode a bus in Belize. Crashed a bike in Kansas City. Helped a bison cross the road in Wyoming. Nearly fell off the Grand Canyon. Nearly drowned in North Carolina. Got in a fight. Had an epiphany. Earned beads in New Orleans. Danced in Argentina. Talked to an old lady in Mexico. Drank rum in Grand Cayman. Ate dim sum in Portland. Sang a song in Seattle. Heard an encore in Indianapolis. Received a rose in Orlando. Had nightmares in Colombia. Woke up in Chicago. Watched a sunset in Chile.

But sometimes I get the most amazing feeling just looking up at the sky...
