I'm a bit of a restless soul. Always on the move, and when I'm not I'm thinking about it. Like many, I work in the digital world, stuck to a computer for too long, so I travel to escape. I walk and meet, take photos I love.... Just me, my cameras and a bag of film. An escape from the computer and getting to meet the world! I also love food and is a major part of my travels, so when I'm not eating I'm probably thinking about it :) Traveling to me is all about the people and the culture. Sure I love a waterfall, but I'd prefer to sit in a tea house and take in the sounds and smells and spark up a conversation with a stranger.... no matter how short the conversation is.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I met a girl when I was in Morocco last year who was travelling through Morocco using Couchsurfing. She told me that her parents would host hundreds of people every year back home and it sounded like the most amazing thing. I'd never really considered it before, but she sold it well, and here I am now, on my maiden Couchsurfing voyage :)

My favourite book by far is The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

Movies, I love a good laugh, but it's too difficult to say my favourite.

I am a true music lover. I was brought up with traditional Irish music which I still love to go home to listen to. When I want to close my eyes and leave the day behind I tend to put on classical. The sound of piano keys make me float (a little cheesy I know!!). But will listen to hip-hop (90's my favourite era), rock (the 70's of course) and even some indie to help me stroll. Getting ready for a night out I'll put on some funk and soul.... I think Craig Charles' Spotify playlist hits the spot every time!! :)

When I'm travelling I love to find local music. I'm happiest with a local band in front of me playing something I've never heard before. Last year I spent three months in Indonesia recording old traditional songs. The start of a long term project. This is my happy place :)

I think it was to pack up my life, leave everything behind and disappear off to India for 6 months. Even though I keep returning, that trip changed my life and here I am today.

Photography is my joy. I will happily teach you whatever you want to know. Stories and chats over a tea or a drink. Let's cook together. I can't teach you much here, but I love it all the same :)

I would love to take your portrait. A gift and a thank you from me to you. Although as it's taken on film you will have to wait for me to return home to get it developed :) but it will be a lovely belated gift.
