About Me

I am an avid traveler and long-distance bicycle tourist who has heard great stories on friends and cultural experiences fellow travelers have had using couch surfing, but for whatever reason I have always opted to stay in hostels or camp while I am traveling. I have just finished over 8 months of travel in Asia and am now steeling down to teach for a year in Surat Thani Thailand, before taking off on another big trip and figured I would start my couch surfing experience by giving to the community as host. Once I am finished with my year of teaching primary math here I plan to do a long bicycle tour towards Europe, and am planning to make extensive use of this service as a guest.

I have traveled to quite a few countries in Asia and Latin America, spent time doing work exchanges in Ecuador (bartending) and Colombia (English teacher), spent a year teaching English in Shanghai China, and now I find myself teaching math in Surat Thani Thailand.

I am an easy going guy, like to have a good conversation over beers and food, prefer to ride a bicycle over all other forms of transport, consider myself a dog person, spend a lot of my free time reading or dreaming about my next trip, and like to help others whenever I can. I am always looking to make connections for future couches to crash on, so it's a bit ridiculous that I'm just now using the service actively...I guess I'm a bit old-fashioned when it comes to social networking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couch surfing to network with fellow travelers and learn from their experiences. Also, it would be nice to meet people from places that I may travel someday so that I can have a couch to crash on at some point down the road! ;) I plan to use this service the next big trip I go on, so I want to be an active part of the community as a giver, so that I feel more deserving of the times when I use the service as a guest.
