About Me

I was lucky enough to grow up in a small town called Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire, In-between Manchester and Leeds, Its basically a hippy town in the hills full of fun people that like going to festivals and having a right good time.

Two and a half years ago I ended up working and living in Manchester. I decided this wasn't for me so I gave up my house and job and decided to work festivals during the summer and go travelling during the winter. I work many different festivals and turn up to some good ones along the way such as Boomtown, Secret Garden Party and Glastonbury. I work in boutique camping which is for rich people that can't be bothered to put there own tent up, so we do it for them.

The first winter I escaped the perils of real life I travelled to India and Sri Lanka for 5 months, The second winter I did some grape picking in France then headed down to Spain and did some workaway work making doors and fitting floors. I also spent a month in Morocco. This summer I have been putting up yurts at the festivals and because there is no rent as you are camping and they feed you very well, I have managed to save the money for a trip to south america. I'm pretty damn happy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been meaning to make an account for couch surfer for years, I was pretty much waiting till I had a couch. In the last house we lived in we all worked late hours so putting up guests could have been tricky.

I am making an account now as I want to travel to places and get the real experience from people who actually live in the place as opposed to me just following a guide book. I'm not going to lie though, it makes it a hell of a lot cheaper!

Interests

I am mainly interested in having a good time and making sure the people around me are too. Life is too short for worrying and not enjoying yourself.

I am interested in music, dancing, drinking, fun and people in general. I am also of course very interested in travelling and not only seeing the sights but meeting people from all corners of the world.

Another passion is Carpentry, I studied at college but have never had time to make it into a full time profession, I do the odd job for family and friends every now and then. I would like to do some more workaway schemes using this skill. To visit nice places meet interesting people do some carpentry and get fed and housed is exactly what I want to be doing in life at the moment.

I am also quite Interested in curry. Indian curry. I love cooking all kinds of food, especially curry.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is pretty much my main passion in life. I like stuff with a groove, mainly focus around Funk, Soul, Disco and Hip-Hop. I also love the classics such as Beatles, Kinks, Blur, Radiohead, Clash. I have a massive collection and a little speaker that comes everywhere with me.

When It comes to film I like something a bit surreal and post apocalyptic. Terry Gilliam and the Coen brothers are probably my favourite directors. Films such as Brazil, Fear and Loathing, 12 Monkeys, The Big Labowski, The Hudsucker Proxy, O Brother, Where Art Thou? Have to mention the Jungle Book and Withnail and I aswell.

I Like a similar post apocalyptic vibe to my books aswell. Orwells 1984 and Animal Farm, Huxleys Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray bradbury, The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham. I also love all the Steinbeck I have read and the Godfather by Mario Puzo was a surprising classic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The other weekend I was at a fantastic festival called the secret garden party. One of the most beautiful places I have been, all based around a lake surrounded with lit up trees, art installations everywhere you look and the most wonderful fireworks. I was rather smashed wandering around when I saw two girls helping a dwarf who had fallen over in the mud. I recognised this dwarf from camping near by to me. I pulled his foot out of the mud, helped him put his shoes on properly and offered to help him home. So off I trotted rather inebriated and merry hand in hand with a mud covered dwarf. He was called Mark. Once in a lifetime experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always happy to teach any joinery skills that can be done with available facilities. If anybody has a door that is sticking or a window that wont quite shut properly I would be more than happy to fix it. If we have the correct spices I can teach how to cook a mean curry.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well People are always asking for my music collection and I am more than happy to share that. I enjoy cooking, I am always happy to cook a curry or anything else that is tasty. Other than that some company, conversation and a good drinking partner is what I have to offer.
