About Me

On my way to become a journalist.
I love the messiness of bazaars as well as the tranquility of nature.
Can't take a lot of spicy food (spicy is Sichuan spicy, French spicy is fine ;)), apart from that I love to try any food:)
Look forward to meeting you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, the process of getting to know people well and understanding each individual is one of the most profound experiences in life, and Couchsurfing is a great venue for that.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a bit of novels, Lord of the Rings, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Harry Potter series, Liu Cixin's Three Body series, and Süskind's Perfume are my favourites. For other books I like, I read the Illiad and the Odyssey and loved them, was thralled by Mill's On Liberty, and finds the Communist Manifesto interesting.

For films and TV series, my favourite remains the Lord of the Rings series... and Sherlock, The Hour of the BBC. A big fan of BBC documentaries.

I love all sorts of music, vocal, classical, new age, rock, jazz, soundtrack. The recent favourite is Devorak's From the New World Symphony.

Another thing that doesn't fall into any categories is I love audio content...NPR, BBC, Heart Radio...I listened to the entirety of Lord of the Rings on audiobook.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I interviewed Egyptians in Egypt and Jordan about their personal dreams without an interpreter, using questions translated into Arabic written on a piece of paper and a pink videotaping camera, and put the videos into a small documentary.
When the Egyptians don't speak English (which is the case for the large majority of Egyptians), I give them the piece of paper, raise the camera and smile. When they smile back, I start videotaping. And then I ask Egyptian friends to translate what was said in the videos. Seems rather weird but I was able to elicit many interesting answers.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am learning Spanish(beginner) French (conversational) , and am happy to learn any language that comes along, and teach Mandarin and Cantonese.

Would be happy to go out taking pictures together and trade thoughts, critiques, etc.

Events will be fun too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, share knowledge about Chinese law and society in general if you are interested.
Would be happy to share life experiences in general~horse riding in Petra moonlight, debating with Canadians, listening to French complaining about themselves etc.
