Overview
About Me
Jitendra Choithani is a creative visionary and cultural custodian who seamlessly blends filmmaking, theatre, and linguistic scholarship to preserve and celebrate Sindhi heritage. With over a decade of experience, he combines artistic passion, academic rigor, and social commitment to create meaningful, impactful work.
Starting with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Jitendra transitioned to the creative arts by completing a specialized Sound Recording and Television Engineering course at the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. He also holds a Diploma in TV & Video Production from Xaviers Institute of Communication, Mumbai, and has undergone extensive theatre direction training, including prestigious workshops at the National School of Drama, Sri Ram Centre for Performing Arts, and notably the NFDC Producers Lab in 2017.
Jitendra’s diverse body of work spans theatre, film, and television. He has directed numerous plays—ranging from mythological sagas and political satires to experimental and children’s theatre—delving deeply into themes of culture, identity, and spirituality. His television experience includes serving as Associate Creative Head on popular shows, while in films he contributed as Assistant Creative Producer.
Currently pursuing a PhD in Sindhi, his research focuses on folk art, dance forms, and cultural rituals, supported by multiple published papers. Actively promoting Sindhi language and culture, Jitendra consults for the Sindhi Academy and Sahitya Akademi, participates as a national seminar speaker, and performs as a National Poet at major cultural events, including Independence and Republic Day celebrations. His committed work for the preservation and promotion of Sindhi language and literature makes his profile stand out as a true champion of linguistic heritage.
In 2019, demonstrating profound personal strength, he paused his Mumbai career to become a full-time caregiver to his mother following her renal transplant, balancing personal sacrifice with professional ambition. In 2022, he received the Young Writers Grant from Sahitya Akademi in recognition of his literary contributions.
Known for candid creativity and fearless risk-taking, Jitendra also explores independent documentary filmmaking on paranormal themes. He remains committed to projects that honours creative freedom, recognition, and long-term cultural impact.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I see myself as an intelligent, sensitive human, with the soul of a clown which forces me to blow it at the most important moments.
I wish to travel countries and meet new people.
I love to interact with people, knowing different cultures, traditions and beliefs inspires me.
I love to hear those positive travel stories, how people can roam around the world, and I love the cs environment wherein you can help someone travel or get help irrespective of religion/race/orientation/ethnicity/culture/gender.
The best part of CS is that we help not for monetary reasons, but for our sheer love for travelling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Visited Nepal alone, stayed in a village, ate nomadic food. I was unable to communicate well with the inhabitants. But later, with gestures and expressions I was able to not only talk, but I made good friends.
i have hosted almost 35 surfers in my college hostel so far.
I have hosted around 15 people at my home.
Teach, Learn, Share
Presently I am staying in Noida. Can show you around places if I am free, or can guide you places to visit.
I am related to films and can take my guests to different locations and to a film shoot, provided I am free and I am working in that film project. I also own a theater group 'Rangmanch Ki Duniya' with an aim to train under-privileged kids drama and theater.
I feel theater can heal and cure people
I can help you to learn Hindi and other local languages if needed.
Can suggest decent accommodation and places to visit in different parts of India.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Breakfast. Drinks. Knowledge. Stories. Time. Hugs. Smile. Positive Energy.
A separate bed/Room or a Shared Bed. Wi-Fi. Meals (sometimes when I cook). I can help you to visit nearby places, can go along with the couchsurfer if I am free.
