About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience the lives and cultures of people who are unlike myself. To see the world before I have a real job and kids. To absorb information about the world that will make me a better human being. To people watch until my brain explodes.

ABOUT ME

I'm really normal and really strange at the same time. I love books and tattoos and juice and my little car. I vote. I like to sew and paint and craft. I got a 4 year degree in 3 years...because I hated college. I'm a workaholic. I love ballet. I don't like telling people I'm American. I'm a vegetarian. I love being in a multicultural family. I get along with just about anyone...

PHILOSOPHY

carpe diem, vita brevis. life is short. my best friend died in an accident in 2004, and i live my life because he didn't get to live his. i dont let anything keep me from the things that make me happy in life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: almost anything. i love country music. i also enjoy a lot of alternative, punk, pop, and world music.
Movies: not big on scary or shoot-em-up types, but anything else goes. i like the weird, off-beat ones that make a lot of people say, "wait, what?"
Books: i love harry potter, i love travel writing, ethnographies, and will usually succumb to reading the bestsellers that everyone is talking about.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My best friend was Irish-American, and dreamed of visiting/living in Ireland. He died before he was able to live that dream, but I lived it for him and went to Costello, a village bearing his surname, on what would have been his 19th birthday. It was only a pub and a gas station, but it was a beautiful experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

The term race is a culturally constructed concept used to create hierarchy based on arbitrary physical features. There are no biological "races." We are all humans.

Australia, Costa Rica, France, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, United Kingdom
