ABOUT ME

I'm spunky, adventurous, talkative, and get really excited about silly things. I love storytelling, especially in the form of comic books or films. I've tried to get back to reading novels, but I have an addiction to nonfiction, especially ancient biographies and histories of ancient Greece/Rome/China/Middle East.

I work in TV/film production, so I end up meeting some interesting folks thru that (and sometimes get to travel for my job, but alas, never enough). Always looking for interesting independent projects to get involved with, so if you are active in media, let's talk!

PHILOSOPHY

I have to KNOW. I have a horrible burning desire for knowledge of all kinds, from how to knit, to the chemical formulas for certain pharmeceuticals, to Greek art, Chinese philosophy, history of the Tudors. I live to experience, and to create, and in that creating I hope to share with others WHO I am and WHAT I've done. I love talking, and telling people what I think and then listening to them to understand and learn how they think. I want to be the eternal teacher and student simultaneously.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was hosting people at the huge house I was living in with 8 other crazy kids. Those days, sadly, have past. For several months, I traveled Europe and stayed with CSers the majority of the time. After lots more moving, I have settled down in Chicago and am now able to offer my couch to some lucky traveler!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love the wide variety of people that are involved with this site, linked only by their acceptance of total strangers into their homes or lives. People here tend to be some of the most kind, curious, worldly folks that I've met. I am constantly impressed and motivated by the amazing CSers I meet.

Oh boy, one thing after another. Wikipedia eats up days of my life. But, I also like dressing in costumes (my theater background, I suppose), cooking, biking, tea, wandering in bookstores, the occasional drink (of alcoholic nature), odd trashy cultural items (a lot of people don't seem to understand my fascination with SHOWGIRLS)

climbing Mt. Etna and then running back down the side of it through thick volcanic sand was pretty awesome; also, almost died in a storm on a volcano in Iceland. Volcanoes always make for interesting times...

I love political/philosophical debates. Just exchanging information and perspectives with someone else makes me so happy (especially if it is done over gin and tonics). I can teach lots about film history, film making, playing guitar, bits of Chinese and Spanish.
