About Me

I grew up in a small town in north Alabama and I have now lived in Birmingham, AL for about 2 years. I have always always wanted to travel and now I'm going to stop procrastinating it and start doing it. :) I currently have 2 cats, but I have owned/trained horses, I have had at least 10 different dogs, a pony.. My family has a farm and we have raised cows, goats, donkeys, horses, etc. Just about any farm animal I could name. :) I want to do all kinds of things from skydiving, bungee jumping, and snorkeling to museums, trying new foods, art classes, and dance classes. I work in a diagnostic testing and disease management lab in the receiving department.
Some randoms about me, ummm, I am not an early riser or a early sleeper. PB&Js, strawberry Pop Tarts, and corn dogs make up a large percentage of my diet. I was a gymnast/competitive cheerleader for about 12 years. I am an observer, a Libra, and a wanderer, among several other things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I haven't been able to travel as much as I would love to and also don't have much money to spend doing so. I have been told by many different friends that CouchSurfing is an awesome way to get to travel, meet awesome new friends, and get to really enjoy the places that I want to see (everywhere). I can't wait to get on the road and make incredible memories and have insane journeys with many new friends!

Interests

I'm interested in...hiking/backpacking, cultures of every kind, just about any outdoor activities I can think of (I'll try almost anything), live music and especially festivals, history/monuments/sight-seeing, animals (I'm a little bit of a cat lady), good drinks, fun times, and amazing people!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is live music. And the genre changes daily based on my mood. I love Pandora Radio and my stations include Talking Heads>Classic Indie>Classic Rock>Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong>Gary Clark Jr.>The Gorillaz>Moon Taxi>Otis Redding>Pink Floyd>Sly &The Family Stone.
My favorite movies of all time are Pulp Fiction, Almost Famous, Blow, The Virgin Suicides, Pride & Prejudice, Into the Wild, Breakfast at Tiffany's, What Dreams May Come, Fear & Loathing, Juno, A Beautiful Mind, 500 Days of Summer...
I read biographies, fiction, memoirs. Just Kids by Patti Smith, Wild by Cheryl Strayed, books by Jack Kererouac or Chuck Klosterman, Bossy Pants by Tina Fey, some classics like To Kill A Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby...to name a few. I'm reading Gut Feelings by Gerd Gigerenzer currently.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My favorite thing so far was a 5-day backpacking trip in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado in March of 2011. We had to rent snowshoes to make it to our planned campsites. We spent the morning in Denver before hiking in and the afternoon after hiking out.

I have been to Bonnaroo 4 times. It is my happy place. It's always amazing.
