I started travelling in 2005 and haven't stopped. While home is North America, I've spent long stretches in South Asia and Southeast Asia, and I'm now doing my third stint in Africa.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

These days I don't have a permanent base but would be interested in meeting new/interesting people during my travels, perhaps borrowing a couch from time to time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A friend (Kim) visiting me in India was part of CouchSurfing. When she and I travelled from New Delhi to Pushkar together we met up with all of her CouchSurfing friends. While in Pushkar I made two new friends (Banjeet and Clara) and decided to join. More recently, in both Iqaluit (Nunavut) and Djibouti, I made a number of friends through couch surfing. I have not stayed on anyone's couch through this service as yet (though I have slept on couches) but I've made space available for people and their things who've passed through my border town on visa runs.

I keep a pretty well-stocked library at home and usually have 5-7 books with me wherever I go. Always interested in making a trade.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In Ghana I straddled a live crocodile; in India I dined with a maharaja; in Djibouti I swam with sea turtles; in Thailand I climbed a mountain.
